It Started With a Really Good Cup of Coffee
My name is Owen Parry, and I started Dead Awake Coffee Co. out of a simple but obsessive belief — that fresh-roasted coffee isn't a luxury, it's the whole point.
I'm a self-admitted coffee snob. I'm the guy at the office who pushed management to upgrade to a proper bean-to-cup machine because I couldn't stand watching good people suffer through bad coffee every morning. At home, my wife won't start her day any other way — first thing she does is brew a fresh cup, climb back into bed, and ease into the morning with the news and a really good cup in her hands.
That's the ritual. That's what this is all about.
Why Dead Awake?
When I started researching the coffee industry I discovered something that changed how I thought about the whole thing — truly fresh-roasted coffee, made in small batches to order, is a completely different experience from anything sitting on a grocery store shelf.
Think about it. That bag at Publix? When was it roasted? Two months ago? Three? Coffee starts losing its character the moment it's roasted, and most people have never experienced what it actually tastes like when it's genuinely fresh.
I found a way to fix that. Dead Awake partners with small-batch specialty craft roasters who roast your coffee after you place your order. Not before. Not weeks ago. After. That means when your bag arrives it's as fresh as coffee gets — and once you taste the difference, you can't go back.
